Heacham church hosts EU referendum debate 


St Mary’s Church, Heacham is hosting a public debate about the EU referendum in conjuction with Lynn News on Tuesday, June 7 encouraging voters to explore the issues ahead of the vote on June 23.


The Heacham EU Referendum debate will take place at St Mary’s Church, Heacham at 7pm. It will be jointly chaired by Rev Veronica Wilson, the vicar of St Mary’s, and Rev Stephen Oliver, the village’s Methodist minister.

Rev Wilson said: “We all have an important decision to make and we’re very pleased to be able to host an event in which we can hear both sides of the debate and reach our own conclusion.”

Representing the Remain campaign are Robert Colwell, lead volunteer for the StrongerIN campaign in West Norfolk, and Jo Rust, Secretary of the North West Norfolk constituency Labour Party.

Opposing them will be Matthew Hannay, the North West Norfolk constituency co-ordinator for the Vote Leave campaign, and Toby Coke, the UKIP county councillor for the Gayton and Nar Valley division.

The speakers will present their views and then there will be a time for questions that have been submitted in advance.  Please submit questions in advance to Rev Veronica Hart, Vicar of Heacham and Snettisham at [email protected].  If there is time there will be a chance to ask supplementary questions from the floor.
