Revd Canon Julie Boyd reflected on the symbolism of the Standard, which represents the Legion’s motto ‘Service not self’ and is treated with reverence similar to how individuals offer their lives to God, their Sovereign, and their country. The new Standards were unveiled in a manner that mirrored this sense of duty and service.
