N Norfolk Church launches concert programme
All Saints Church in Upper Sheringham is gearing up for its summer season of concerts and events, kicking off with an organ recital this Saturday. The programme includes performances by local and visiting artists, such as the Norfolk Broads Concert Band and Viva Voce Singers. The church, known for its acoustics, hopes to continue building a reputation for hosting events that benefit the community and contribute to the maintenance of the historic building. Reverend Frank Clarke emphasized the importance of using churches for a wider range of events to raise funds and maintain their presence in the local community.
The upcoming summer concerts at All Saints Church feature a diverse range of musical genres and performers. Philip Adams and Michael Finnissy will be performing an organ recital of 19th century French music, while Serendipity will entertain the audience with a mix of Abba, Lennon and McCartney, and classical music. Viva Voce Singers, a chamber choir from Norwich, will showcase their high-quality performances with a repertoire spanning different musical eras. Light refreshments will be available at each concert, and admission is priced at £10 for adults (free for under 12s), with advance bookings welcomed via email.
All upcoming events at All Saints Church, including the summer concerts and weekday activities, aim to provide the community with opportunities to enjoy music and support the church. In addition to the concerts, the church hosts regular Sunday services, weekday events, and coffee mornings to raise funds for various charitable causes. Members of the Norwich Cathedral Choir will be leading a Choral Evensong service at the church in September, further enriching the musical offerings available to visitors and residents of Upper Sheringham. The church, with parts dating back to the 15th century, continues to be a focal point in the local community for gatherings and cultural events.
