Music festival in five North Norfolk churches

The Five Churches Festival is set to take place in July across the Glaven Valley Benefice, with tickets now available for all concerts. Following the success of last year’s event, the churches of Cley, Glandford, Letheringsett, Wiveton, and Blakeney will each host their own music event during the second week of July. The proceeds from ticket sales will go towards supporting the ongoing costs of maintaining these historic buildings. The festival will kick off in Wiveton Church on July 10 with a concert by The Kings Men, the choral scholars from King’s College Cambridge, featuring a diverse program of choral classics, folksongs, blues/jazz, and popular arrangements.

Chaos Collective, the resident string quartet, will perform at Letheringsett Church on July 11, presenting a program titled “Homelands” featuring music by Shostakovich, Dvorak, and more. On the same day, the Festival will also include the community Thursdays@Three concert series in Cley, featuring soprano Alice Platten and violinist Tristan McCardel, winners of the ‘Norfolk Young Musician’ award. Glandford Church will host the Mikeleiz-Zucchi Duo, an award-winning accordion and saxophone pair, on July 12, followed by an evening of summer jazz with The Chris Cooper Trio and all-you-can-eat pizza at the Glandford Deli.

Cley Church will be transformed into a venue for Music from the Movies on July 13, featuring Chaos Collective and vocalist Ella McCready, celebrating film music from different eras. The evening will include an audience with acclaimed BBC writer, broadcaster, and film critic Francine Stock in conversation with Rev Richard Lawry. The Festival Finale will take place at Blakeney Church on July 14 with a celebration concert featuring many favorite Festival artists. Tickets for each event are £15 and include a free Festival Programme. To book tickets, visit the Five Churches Festival website.
