Carols on the prom for Sheringham church

Lighthouse Community Church recently collaborated with Cromer and Sheringham Brass Band to host an evening of carol singing on Sheringham promenade. Approximately 120 people turned up to participate in this festive event, which featured traditional carols played by the town band, as well as hot drinks and mince pies provided by the SALT café. The event provided a great opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the world-changing event of Jesus’ birth.

In addition to the carol singing event, Lighthouse also organized a Christmas family service at the church, complete with a pop-up nativity. Attendees of all ages were encouraged to dress up in nativity-style garments and take part in tableaux to accompany modern readings of the Christmas story. The church also undertook various community initiatives, such as delivering hot drinks and snacks to market traders, distributing chocolates to local shops and businesses, and providing free food bags to bring cheer to families during the festive season.

The church’s café manager, Maggie Rothe, and her team worked tirelessly to organize a festive “Family Fridays” evening, a Christmas Community Lunch, and the distribution of free food bags. Their goal was to engage with the community and bring some joy to families who may be struggling during the holiday season. Additionally, Lighthouse will be hosting a free screening of the family film “The Star” and a midnight communion service on Christmas Eve. The church’s café, ThreadBear shop, and office will be closed for Christmas and will reopen in early January 2024.

These initiatives reflect Lighthouse Community Church’s commitment to serving and uplifting the community during the Christmas season. Their efforts to bring people together, provide support for those in need, and spread joy through various events and activities demonstrate their dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Through their collaborative efforts with the Cromer and Sheringham Brass Band and various community outreach programs, Lighthouse Community Church has shown the true spirit of Christmas through their acts of kindness and generosity.
