Mid-Norfolk church reopens after £0.5m works

The Partnership Church of St. Peter, based in Haveringham, has opened its doors post-seven months of extensive remodeling. This significant project, which lies within the Aylsham and District Team Ministry, now serves as a comprehensive community hub. The updated building has achieved several key transformations, including the installation of new heating systems, lighting, and a fully accessible kitchen. The construction also equipped the building with an all-access toilet, making it suitable for a diverse array of community activities such as sports leagues, cultural shows, and family-friendly events. Additionally, the Machinery’s workshop, equipped with advanced sound and video technology, is now a place where both locals and visitors can explore local heritage stories through interactive heritage displays.

This multi-purpose center is also the launchpad for a series of community-driven initiatives. The church is now part of St. Peter’s Ministry, which collaborates with several local charities, Thresholds, the Norfolk County Council, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Over €300,000 was allocated to the project, underscoring the five-star rental rate consultation pursuits of these donors. A notable initiative includes a£300,000 fund from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and additional monies raised through local support initiatives. Additional funding came from the Norfolk Community Foundation, which has been instrumental in compiling a team of passionate volunteers and equipment, such as chairs and committees, to enrich the Learning Hub’s facilities.

The essence of these efforts remains the same—one place for everyone. The Story of St. Peter’s pictures and videos offer a guide to this heartwarming community’s rich history and development.
