Norwich City: Stuart Webber on life after Canaries spell

Norwich City’s sporting director, Stuart Webber, is set to leave the club by the end of the year. Webber, who had resigned from his position in March, will be succeeded by Ben Knapper, who will join the club in late November after leaving Arsenal. Knapper and Webber will work together for a short period before Webber transitions out of the business before the January transfer window. This will mark the end of Webber’s six-and-a-half-year tenure at Norwich City, during which he was appointed as the club’s first sporting director.

Webber’s departure from Norwich City is motivated by both personal and professional reasons. As a long-held personal ambition, he plans to climb Mount Everest in May 2024. He wants to be able to focus on this challenge without the stresses of employment, which is why he has planned his exit from the club prior to undertaking the climb. In addition to pursuing this personal goal, Webber also feels that there is still room for improvement in his professional career and is eager to take on a new challenge at a different club.

In an interview with the Route to the Top podcast, Webber expressed his desire to continue growing and developing as a professional. He believes that he can be a better version of himself and there is still something nagging at him that he can do better elsewhere. He sees his departure from Norwich City and his upcoming climb of Mount Everest as the start of the second half of his work career. Webber wants to approach his next professional endeavor with a clear mind, free from distractions and responsibilities.

Webber has planned his departure in order to have a few weeks at home before embarking on his climb of Mount Everest. He wants to be able to fully focus on this challenge and only stay in contact with a small group of loved ones. After successfully completing his climb and returning healthy, Webber will then look ahead to what comes next in his professional career. He sees the climb as a milestone and a chance for personal growth, and once he has achieved it, he will be ready to plan and pursue his next step in football.
