Yarmouth church celebrates creation with photos

Kingsgate Community Church in Great Yarmouth recently held a public exhibition of photographs taken by church members in response to God’s creation. The idea for the collection of photographs originated from a request for ideas for discipleship groups within the church. Jo Morrison, a member of Kingsgate Community Church, proposed the concept of a photography group focused on meditating on God’s creation. The group of 8 members visited various locations together, including Waxham, Winterton, Lound Lakes, Burgh Castle, Bluebell Woods, Gorleston beach, and the Britannia Monument, capturing images at different times of day. They shared their photographs and reflections through WhatsApp, emphasizing that the equipment used was not important, but rather the ability to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation from different perspectives.

The photography group’s display consists of 46 photos in the entrance hall of the King’s Centre, the home of Kingsgate Community Church in Great Yarmouth. The photos are accompanied by reflections or Bible verses chosen by the photographers, offering viewers a deeper insight into the inspiration behind each image. The exhibition will be open for viewing until Thursday, February 7, welcoming anyone who wishes to appreciate the beauty captured through the lens of the church members. Additionally, visitors can also enjoy the café at the King’s Centre, open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 2:30pm.

Jo Morrison recalls the group’s focus on recognizing God’s hand in both natural and man-made creations, acknowledging the divine knowledge behind human achievements. Each member of the photography group brought their unique perspective to the photos they captured, showcasing the diversity of interpretations of God’s creation. The exhibition serves as a means for both the church members and the community to reflect on the beauty of the world around them, appreciating the intricate details and awe-inspiring landscapes that God has provided. Through this collaborative effort, the photographers aim to inspire others to pause and admire the wonders of creation, fostering a sense of gratitude and reverence for the natural world.
