Stalham Baptist Church opens Memories Cafe
Stalham Baptist Church has recently launched a new Memories Café for individuals with memory loss and their caregivers. The café meets on the last Monday of each month from 10:00-12:00 in the newly refurbished School Room at the church. The goal of the café is to provide a welcoming social space where attendees can enjoy a cup of tea, participate in various activities, make new friends, and ultimately enhance their quality of life. Organiser Diana Gordon expressed gratitude for the volunteers who have helped with this important project, which aims to support those in need in the community. Activities at the café include games, music, jigsaws, painting, knitting, baking, and the use of memory books to stimulate reminiscence.
In addition to providing a supportive environment for those with memory loss and their caregivers, the Memories Café also serves as a place to meet others facing similar challenges. The café offers a range of activities aimed at stimulating memory and social interaction, such as games, music, and crafts. The cafe is set to expand its sessions in the future, with upcoming dates scheduled throughout the summer. Volunteers at the café undergo checks with the Disclosure & Barring Service and are required to attend training to ensure the wellbeing of all attendees. Those interested in volunteering or seeking more information can contact Diana Gordon directly via phone or email.
