Church partnership relaunch Gorleston Magazine
Three Anglican churches in Gorleston have relaunched the Gorleston Community Magazine, a popular publication that features articles from local organizations and charities, information about services and businesses, and a Christian reflection. The magazine, which was started in 2018 by St Andrew’s Church, recently won awards for Best Editor and Best Design. The churches have set up a Community Interest Company (CIC) to ensure the magazine can continue as a not-for-profit enterprise for the benefit of the local community. Over 4,000 copies of each edition will be distributed for free in the area, with the goal of connecting, informing, and uplifting people in Gorleston.
The magazine was relaunched at the Gorleston clifftop festival last weekend, where copies were given away to around 1,000 people. An additional 3,000 copies were distributed to houses and public places in the community. The three churches involved in the relaunch are St Andrew’s Church, St Mary Magdalene Church, and Cliff Park Community Church. The new team taking over the publication hopes to continue the high quality of news and information that the magazine has provided in the past, as well as build on its success. The magazine will be published bi-monthly and will include content that connects people to the local churches and faith community.
Rev Matthew Price, Vicar at St Mary Magdalene Church and one of the directors of the new Gorleston Community Magazine CIC, expressed the team’s commitment to providing a resource that serves the community and strengthens connections among residents. The magazine aims to support local organizations, businesses, and charities while also offering a platform for sharing Christian perspectives and reflections. The previous editors of the magazine, Karen and Derek Bryant, were recognized for their work with awards in 2021 and 2022. The new team is looking for individuals who may be interested in getting involved with the magazine and can be contacted via email for more information.
With the re-launch of the Gorleston Community Magazine, the three churches in Gorleston have come together to ensure the continuation of this valuable community resource. The magazine has a history of providing high-quality content that informs and uplifts residents, and the new team is dedicated to maintaining this standard. By establishing a Community Interest Company (CIC), the churches have created a sustainable model for the magazine to operate as a not-for-profit enterprise. With a focus on connecting people in the local area and providing opportunities to engage with the churches and faith community, the magazine serves as a valuable platform for sharing news, information, and reflections.
