Norwich star Hernandez in hilarious Partridge moment over Morrisons and Argos

SOME footballers are accused of failing to integrate with the city when they move to a new club – the same cannot be said of Onel Hernandez.

The Norwich winger went full Partridge – Norfolk’s legendary broadcaster – when describing why he loves his new home after joining from Eintracht Braunschweig a year ago.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, the Cuban-born German could not stop himself declaring his love for two retailers: Morrisons and Argos.

He said: “I love the city. I like that I live next to the stadium and next to me is a Morrisons which is good, so I can buy my food.

“And also, I’d never seen an Argos before in my life. I walked inside and saw the catalogue with things you can order.

“You can order bikes, TVs – we don’t have this in Germany. Argos has everything, and I’ve never seen this in my life before.

“When my mother came to Argos, she bought a lot to take back to Cuba.”

Hernandez has embraced the hilarious response to his comments and even tweeted an image pretending to celebrate with Argos carrier bags in his hands.

And it appears the feelings are mutual because Argos tweeted in response: “We’ve got a special catalogue signed by our CEO coming your way, and we’d like to send you a selection of some of our canary-coloured products too. DM us.”

One quick-witted internet user even changed Hernandez’s Wikipedia page to reflect his love of the shop. Under the ‘personal life’ section, it reads: “He shops at Argos.”

Opposite Carrow Road, the home of Norwich City, is Riverside Retail Park where the attacker can stock up on his supplies.

And Hernandez added: “When I need something, I buy it from Argos. I live in a perfect area. There’s H&M, Costa and Boots nearby – it’s great. Chapelfield is very cool as well. We have a lot of restaurants and I love this city.”

It is clear he is indeed loving life in Norwich and rightly so. This season he has four goals and seven assists for Daniel Farke’s side.

Hernandez is a regular starter for the Canaries, who sit second in the Championship, just a point behind leaders Leeds.
