Norwich identify top manager target after moving on from Steve Cooper as they seek David Wagner replacement

Pascal Jansen, a Dutch manager who was recently sacked by AZ Alkmaar, has emerged as a potential candidate for the vacant manager position at Norwich City. The Championship club is searching for a new manager after parting ways with David Wagner following a heavy 4-0 defeat in the play-off second leg against Leeds United. Norwich’s sporting director Ben Knapper, a former loans manager at Arsenal, is responsible for compiling a list of potential candidates, with Jansen being one of the top contenders. Despite Wagner’s departure being imminent even if Norwich had been promoted to the Premier League, the club felt his style of play was too negative. Jansen, known for his attacking style of play, has also attracted interest from other clubs such as Spartak Moscow and Lech Poznan.

In addition to Jansen, other managers have also been considered for the Norwich job, including Carlos Cuesta, Mikel Arteta’s assistant at Arsenal. However, it appears that Norwich’s interest in the 28-year-old has waned. Former Huddersfield manager Steve Cooper was also approached but ultimately declined the opportunity. Cooper, who has been without a job since being sacked by Nottingham Forest in December, has been linked to several other clubs, including Crystal Palace and Birmingham City. With the end of the season prompting a flurry of managerial changes across various clubs, Cooper and Jansen are among the names being circulated in the managerial merry-go-round.

Norwich City is not the only club in need of a new manager, as several other teams are also on the lookout for new leadership. Championship side Hull City is in search of a replacement for Liam Rosenior, while Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion are looking to fill the vacancy left by Roberto De Zerbi. Ipswich Town and Luton Town could also be in need of new managers should their current bosses, Kieran McKenna and Rob Edwards, be poached by other clubs. The coaching carousel in English football is in full swing, with many clubs seeking fresh faces to lead their teams in the upcoming season.

As the managerial search continues for Norwich and other clubs, the transfer market is also heating up with various rumors and negotiations taking place. Chelsea is reportedly in talks with Atletico Madrid over a potential £30 million deal for striker Samu Omorodion. Leicester City has announced Steve Cooper as their new manager after a deal with Graham Cooper fell through. Additionally, Chelsea is set to reject a bid from Atletico for midfielder Conor Gallagher.
