I married a bigamist – he told bizarre lies to hide secret family… he’s moved onto another girlfriend but won’t change

A woman has revealed that her husband, Jason Hayter, had been living a double life, with two separate families. Hayter, a former soldier, had met both women on dating websites in 2008 and 2010, and married Tract Larkcombe when she was pregnant with their first child. However, he also maintained a relationship and had a child with Sara Hayter while still married to Larkcombe. Hayter was caught when Sara’s daughter messaged Larkcombe on Facebook, exposing his double life. He pleaded guilty to bigamy and was given a suspended eight-week sentence. His complicated love life involved lying and toing and froing geographically between the two families, with both wives believing different stories about his absence.

Both wives spoke of how Hayter would go missing for long periods, usually on the pretext of army training or due to his mental health. Larkcombe was left to deal with debt collectors after he left, while Hayter would explain absences to Mrs. Hayter as being due to his training as a paramedic for the London Ambulance Service. Both wives felt manipulated and betrayed by Hayter’s lies, and neither had any indication that he had another family. Hayter’s lawyer attributed his behavior to his 23-year military career, which caused emotional distress, and his diagnosis of PTSD after leaving the army. He also stated that Hayter’s second marriage in 2016 had occurred during the breakdown of his first marriage.

In court, Judge Katharine Moore called Hayter’s actions a “comprehensive deception” and a “cruel deception” that eroded trust and devastated families. It was noted that Hayter’s lies rendered marriage ceremonies meaningless, and he had harmed the lives of his five children. While Hayter expressed deep regret for his actions, the judge emphasized the gravity of his deceit. Despite the suspended sentence, the impact on his two wives and five children is significant and will take a lasting toll on their lives.
