Norwich United lose 12-0 amid death threat and abuse reports

The team suffered the defeat to Thetford Town, believed to be a record for the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division they play in, on Saturday afternoon just hours after a number of first-team players took to Twitter to announce they were looking for a new club.

It is thought Norwich United fielded a team of youth players.

It comes after players made allegations of death threats, secret filming in the dressing room and verbal abuse, while the team’s manager Darryl Tate claimed he had been punched twice in the head in an extraordinary statement.

Norfolk FA has announced it is investigating the club, nicknamed the Planters, but Norwich police said they had received no reports of any incidents at the club.

Despite releasing a statement on Friday saying the club would be fulfilling all of its fixtures, the Planters’ reserve match away to Brandon Town was called off for a second time just a day before it was due to take place.

Brandon Town released a statement on Twitter following the announcement, which read: “An hour after posting a statement saying they are committed to fulfilling all fixtures they have called another one off.

“Tomorrow’s home game against Norwich United U21’s has now been cancelled (for the second week running).”

Following the club statement players announced they would be looking for a new club including captain and goalkeeper Ross Bilham and midfielder Josh Malin.

Mr Malin said in a statement on Twitter: “After all the drama recently at Norwich United I’m now looking for a new team.

“Plenty of experience and step five and six for Swaffham, Norwich United and Diss, can play cm [centre midfield], cb [centre back] or full back.

“Can play up top if you want plus five goals per season.

“Hopefully next team is for the season.”
