Norwich City: Under-21s boss Neilson on Borja Sainz injury
The Spaniard limped off after a heavy challenge from the Baggies’ Harry Whitwell early in the Premier League 2 fixture, but Neilson allayed fears of long-term absence post-match.
“I think he’s just got a little knock on his ankle,” Neilson said, speaking to The Pink Un. “The medical staff will assess him, but hopefully it won’t be too bad.
“He’s got a bit of ice on his ankle, but the medical staff are the ones to ask about that.
“As the boss (head coach David Wagner) says, he needs minutes. So the more minutes he gets, the sharper he’ll be. You saw the run that he made in the first 10 minutes, a fantastic run. But then he got a little clip on his ankle.”
Neilson was pleased with his side’s second-half performance after going 1-0 down in the first, with Adian Manning’s brace helping them to a comeback win at Carrow Road.
“We didn’t start that well,” he continued. “A little bit sloppy in possession, we didn’t really close them down enough.
“But our bouncebackability was good. We got the goal back at the right time, and second half we dominated more of the play, which was really good.
“I still think we can play better than that, but the lads kept at it. The game was a bit stretched at the end, it went end to end at times, but second half we definitely had more control. It was a comfortable pace for us.
“There are little bits we’ve got to work on this week. We’ve got another game on Wednesday against West Ham, so that’ll be good for the lads.”
