Norwich walk-in centre staff consdiering walk-out over pay

Workers at One Norwich Practices have been informed that the company only has enough money to pay their wages until the end of November. One Norwich Practices is responsible for running the centre along with one of Norwich’s busiest GP surgeries. As a result of this financial situation, NHS bosses are now working to find a replacement provider for the services and to transfer the staff over. However, the company has stated that it does not have sufficient funds to pay the staff beyond November.

This uncertainty has caused some employees to consider leaving the organization altogether. The prospect of not receiving payment after the end of November has left staff conflicted about whether to continue working or to walk out starting from December 1. This uncertainty is causing significant stress for the employees, especially as Christmas approaches. Many of them are parents with young children and are worried about being able to provide gifts for their kids, pay their heating bills, and have a normal Christmas.

Despite the financial problems faced by One Norwich Practices, the company has expressed confidence that alternative providers for the services will be found and that staff and resources will be successfully transferred over. In response to the situation, the company has been in communication with employees, providing updates and reassurances that efforts are being made to ensure that services continue. The company has also appointed 12 staff members who will represent their colleagues throughout the process. The first meeting for these representatives will take place next week, and regular communications will occur as new information becomes available.

NHS Norfolk and Waveney, the local National Health Service organization, has stated that progress is being made in collaborating with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and One Norwich Practices to secure providers to take on the services currently provided. The ICB is working diligently to find a solution to ensure that healthcare services continue without interruption. Although the future remains uncertain for the employees of One Norwich Practices, efforts are underway to find a new provider and to ensure a smooth transition for both staff and patients.
