Norwich and Norfolk Hospital to keep vaccination centre

The N&N decided to purchase the temporary building, located within the staff car park behind the West Annexe site, after being told funding for the facility would be terminated at the end of March 2023.

A design and access statement submitted by the N&N reads: As part of NHS England’s response to the Covid pandemic a hired modular building was deployed to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital site at Colney Lane in September 2021 to support the mass vaccination programme for staff and patients.

“While there are no immediate plans for another mass vaccination programme, the Trust has taken the strategic decision to purchase the building so that it has a facility onsite to support any future programmes that may arise.”

The planning application has been approved by South Norfolk District Council.
