Woods Coffee Bar in Sprowston expanding to bakery counter
In 2018, the Woods opened an interior design business named Woods Interiors in Roundtree Close, next to Sprowston Retail Park. However, at the end of 2021, they made the decision to open Woods Coffee Bar, taking their business to new heights. The addition of the coffee bar has been a huge success, with the help of their talented baker, Josh Easter. The demand for Easter’s bakes has grown so much that they have outgrown their current coffee bar kitchen.
When the premises opposite their shop became empty, the couple saw an opportunity to expand further. They have been working on a new kitchen and bakery counter since June and are excited to finally open. The new premises will serve as a kitchen and counter for customers to purchase fresh bread and bakery items. This will help ease the footfall at the coffee bar, as it is currently unable to handle the demand for Easter’s bakes.
Easter’s bakes have become increasingly popular, with his sourdough bread and brioche being especially loved. He also excels at capturing nostalgic flavors with his old school bakes. One of Lorraine’s personal favorites is the cornflake tart, and the portion sizes rival those of other city bakeries. In addition to selling their products from the counter, the new business, named The Secret Bake, will offer wholesale options to other businesses and create bespoke celebration cakes.
The grand opening of the new counter is scheduled for Saturday, October 28. Lorraine Wood, co-owner of the business, expresses her amazement at how successful the business has become. It is clear that the addition of the coffee bar and the talented baker has transformed their business, and they are excited to continue growing and serving their customers with delicious baked goods.
