Tom Sleigh appointed as chairman of Norwich Theatre

Tom Sleigh has been the non-executive chairman at the Barbican Arts Centre since 2020 and will complete the maximum permitted term of four years in March 2024. After this, he will succeed Michael Newey as chair of Norwich Theatre, which runs the Theatre Royal, Playhouse, and Stage Two. Sleigh will work in partnership with the chief executive and creative director, Stephen Crocker, to further the organization’s ambitions and see its ‘Creative Experiences’ strategy fulfilled. He will also lead and support the Board of Trustees to fulfill their roles as custodians of Norwich Theatre’s charitable mission.

With a wide range of experience in the private and public sectors, in corporate affairs and strategy, the Board was unanimous in appointing Tom Sleigh as the new chairman. The appointment followed a national and international open search process to find the perfect candidate with the right values. Sleigh expressed his excitement in joining Norwich Theatre and contributing to the ongoing development and prosperity of the organization locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Stephen Crocker also expressed his excitement about partnering with Sleigh to lead Norwich Theatre into its next chapter and how, through his leadership and along with all of their passionate and dedicated trustees, they will together imagine all the impact they might generate through their work well into the future.
