The Green Dragon in Wymondham reopening with new landlords

The Green Dragon in Wymondham has seen a rapid turnover of landlords in recent months, with the pub now set to see its third landlord in less than a year. The pub, which is managed by Admiral Taverns, was recently listed for rent after its former tenants, Victoria and Grahame Macdonald, departed. Prior to the Macdonalds, experienced publican Jill Tickle ran the grade-II listed pub for eight months before giving up the lease in February. Now, Kieran Bullen and Kayleigh Charlish, the current landlord and landlady of The White Hart in nearby Market Street, have announced that they will be taking over the premises effective immediately.

Kieran and Kayleigh expressed excitement about the opportunity to run The Green Dragon, describing the pub as a key part of the community and Wymondham’s history. They emphasized their intention to preserve the charm and character of the pub, maintaining its community spirit and reputation. The new tenants are aiming to reopen The Green Dragon in the new year, bringing back a classics and grill menu as well as introducing a new menu for the summer. The couple’s announcement was met with an outpouring of support on social media, with well-wishers expressing confidence in the couple’s ability to successfully run the pub.

Despite taking on the management of The Green Dragon, Kieran and Kayleigh have confirmed that they will not be leaving The White Hart and will continue to run both pubs simultaneously. The White Hart will remain open while the couple operates The Green Dragon. The news of the change in management at The Green Dragon comes amid a rapid turnover of landlords at the historic drinking hole, revealing the challenges associated with running a centuries-old pub. With the promise of new menus and a commitment to preserving the pub’s character and community spirit, Kieran and Kayleigh’s tenure at The Green Dragon will be an opportunity to breathe new life into this centuries-old establishment.
