Norwich’s Edith Cavell pub set to reopen in Tombland

The Edith Cavell, a pub located in Tombland, recently underwent a major refurbishment after being taken over by Brandon Hoult and Adrian Emmerson. However, the pub was forced to close due to a water ingress problem caused by heavy rainfall. The management team expressed their frustration towards the pub’s owners, Stonegate, stating that they had failed to provide a water-tight environment and support during this challenging time. As a result, the pub has experienced restricted washroom facilities, limited access to the upstairs bar, and forced closures during peak hours. The issue also affected the living accommodation on site, making it impossible for the operators to have a safe and comfortable environment to live in. The pub’s team apologized to their loyal customers for the disruption caused to their plans and expectations.

Brandon Hoult and his partner have extensive experience running two pubs in Yorkshire and chose to take on the Edith Cavell due to its stunning location. Despite the ongoing issues, they plan to reopen the pub this weekend, although Stonegate has yet to complete any necessary work. Scaffolding will be put up for work to be carried out on the roof, side elevation, and decor of the building in the following week.

In summary, the Edith Cavell pub in Tombland has faced significant challenges following its recent refurbishment. Issues with water ingress due to heavy rainfall forced the pub to close and caused disruptions to its operations. The pub’s owners, Stonegate, were criticized by the management team for failing to provide a water-tight environment and support during this difficult time. Despite these difficulties, the operators are determined to reopen the pub and necessary work is scheduled to be carried out in the coming weeks.
