Fitness update on Norwich City duo Hanley and Nunez

Norwich City’s head coach, Daniel Wagner, has provided updates on the injured players in his squad. He revealed that club captain Grant Hanley is set to return to team training after a lengthy spell out due to Achilles surgery. Hanley has not played since last Easter when he suffered the injury. Another player, Marcelino Nunez, is also expected to join up with the Chilean national team during the international break in order to gain some game time. Nunez had previously picked up an ankle injury during a trip to South America.

Wagner also stated that Borja Sainz and Jacob Sorensen could be available for the team’s next Premier League Cup match against Charlton. These updates on the injured players come as a positive boost for Norwich City, as they look to strengthen their squad for the next stage of the Championship season.

However, Wagner emphasized that just because the players are returning to training doesn’t automatically mean they are match fit. He acknowledged that there is still work to be done with the players to get them back into full fitness. The team will monitor how the players respond after the international break.

In their recent match against Coventry, Norwich City played a rotated starting lineup. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Jon Rowe scoring for Norwich in the first half, and Ben Gibson conceding an own goal in the 88th minute. Wagner expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly in executing the game plan of giving Coventry possession and defending from a lower block. He was pleased with the team’s defensive efforts, as Coventry did not have many clear-cut chances. However, Wagner also acknowledged that Norwich had opportunities to score and should have killed the game off.

Overall, Norwich City fans can look forward to the return of some key players from injury, with Hanley nearing a return to team training. The team will continue to work on getting the players match fit and assess their progress after the international break. Despite dropping points against Coventry, Wagner was pleased with the team’s performance and execution of the game plan. Norwich will hope to build on this performance and secure positive results in the upcoming matches.
