Costessey gardener accepting euros ahead of Spanish holiday
Gary Thurston has owned Costessey-based Gary’s Garden Maintenance for seven years and has a family holiday booked in July 2024.

The 39-year-old said: “I’ve always said to people they can pay by cash, card, direct debit, dollars, euros and even bags of change.”
But since booking a holiday to Spain, Gary has found that asking for euros will help him save his spending money.

He said: “It helps me with my holiday savings, but it also means that people who have been on holiday and have leftover euros won’t have to visit a currency exchange because they can spend them with me.”
But he is always sure to check the conversion rates before he accepts the euros, adding: “People may be helping me out but I still have a business to run and a roof to keep over my head.”
