Colman’s mustard Christmas jumpers worn by Norwich staff
Workers at the Condimentum mill in Easton recently received mustard-themed jumpers and hats featuring the classic yellow with the brand’s red logo and bull design. The surprise clothing was well-received by the staff due to their strong connection to the brand, which is synonymous with the Fine City. Many of the staff members are ex-employees of Colman’s and moved to Condimentum after the Carrow site was closed by owner Unilever in 2020. The team at Condimentum is responsible for taking over milling and are passionate about the brand.
According to one former Colman’s employee, Jamie Dady, who is now a technical engineering assistant at the mill, the staff were ecstatic about the surprise clothing because many of them had come over from the old Colman’s site and found jobs at the new facility. The staff members have a strong connection to the brand and are passionate about it. Mustard powder and mint are processed at the site for Colman’s sauces, maintaining strong local links and a focus on local products. The arrival of the clothing coincided with Colman’s reestablishing its links with Norwich City Football Club, which it previously sponsored between 1997 and 2001.
The Christmas clothing is available for purchase from notjustclothing.co.uk, with 50% of the proceeds going to food bank charity The Trussell Trust. The bold colors of the jumpers have drawn some comparisons to Minions from the popular films, but Jamie is a fan of the design. A ‘Bring the Heat’ advertising campaign featuring Colman’s is set to be featured during the Canaries’ festive fixtures, starting ahead of the big East Anglian derby fixture at Ipswich on December 16, 2021. The staff at Condimentum are proud to show their support for the brand and are happy to contribute to a good cause through the purchase of the Christmas clothing.
Overall, the surprise Colman’s mustard-themed jumpers and hats received a warm reception from the staff at the Condimentum mill. The connection to the brand, which many of the staff members worked at in the past, has made the clothing even more meaningful. In addition to the fun and festive nature of the clothing, the 50% of proceeds going to The Trussell Trust provides staff members with an opportunity to support a good cause. With an advertising campaign planned to feature Colman’s during the Canaries’ festive fixtures, the staff at Condimentum have the opportunity to show pride in their connection to the brand and give back to the community.
