All the changes happening in Norwich city centre in December

In recent news, several new businesses are set to open in White Lion Street in the coming weeks. Mexican fast-food chain Tortilla will be opening in the former home of Greggs on December 9th. The company, which was launched in 2007, has more than 80 restaurants across the UK, with its closest branch currently in Cambridge. Another business, Engino, is planning to open in Castle Quarter in December. The educational toy brand will move into the former Pure Electric store and will offer a store, exhibition space, and cafe. An official opening day will be announced soon.

On a different note, award-winning restaurant Woolf and Social will close at the end of December. Located off Dereham Road, the venue, which was opened by friends Francis Woolf and Felix Rehberg in 2015, has received widespread acclaim. The main reason for the closure is for Mr. Woolf to spend more time with his family and focus on other projects. However, the pair stated that more can be expected from Woolf & Social in other forms in the future. Additionally, the brunch and tapas bar Jorge’s Tasca will also be closing on December 23. The Portuguese eatery, originally called Go Bifanas, is based in Orford Yard, off Red Lion Street. The owners are looking to focus more on the adjacent restaurant and spend more time with their family.

Lastly, Bier Draak will be opening at 42 King Street in December. The bar, owned by Toby Westgarth and Dominic Burke of Sir Toby’s Beers on Norwich Market, will serve German and Belgian beers along with cold meats and cheeses. The duo is installing 10 draught beer lines and hoping to offer “historic beer styles” that are harder to come by. An exact opening date for the bar has not been confirmed. These new businesses are sure to bring a fresh and exciting energy to the city of Norwich.
