Norwich Church begins anniversary celebrations

The 150th anniversary celebrations of Christ Church Eaton began with a Choral Hits II Concert on Sunday, October 15. The concert featured the first public performance of a specially commissioned anthem, Behold! How Good and Joyful by Simon Lole. The event was a success and included performances by the Christ Church Choir, organist Neil Ricketts, and instrumentalists Geraldine Verschoor and Kathy Jenner. The concert also showcased two organ solos, Toccata & Fugue in D minor by J S Bach and Variations on ‘America’ by Charles Ives. The main celebrations for the church’s anniversary will take place from November 24 to 27.

As part of the anniversary festivities, a thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday, November 26. This service will feature the newly commissioned anthem and will be attended by important dignitaries such as The Bishop of Norwich, The Lord Mayor, The Lady Mayoress, and the Sheriff. Following the service, guests will enjoy sparkling refreshments and nibbles. Another highlight of the anniversary weekend is the Fantastic Fish Exhibition, which will run from Friday, November 24 to Monday, November 27. This exhibition is an opportunity for anyone to submit a homemade fantastic fish to commemorate the church’s birthday. Admission to the exhibition is free.
