Norwich Christmas card shop to open in church
The Norwich Original Charity Christmas Card shop is set to open its doors for its 58th year of operation in St Peter Mancroft church. Starting on October 16th, the shop will feature cards from 28 different charities and will be open daily from Monday to Saturday until December 14th. The goal of the shop is to give every penny taken back to the charities, which is made possible by keeping overhead costs low and relying on volunteers. The shop has had a tremendous impact over the years, having raised almost two million pounds to date.
The Christmas Card shop is run entirely by volunteers, with no salaried staff. Team members donate gifts to create Christmas hampers, which are then raffled off to generate enough funds to cover the running costs of the shop. This commitment to low overheads ensures that as much money as possible can be donated to the charities. The shop has become a true community effort, with dedicated charity representatives, volunteers, and a small committee working together to make the operation successful.
The shop has not only raised significant funds for charities throughout the years, but it has also generated a sense of fun and friendship among its members. The camaraderie and pride in their efforts can be felt throughout the shop. The success of the shop is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all those involved.
As the Norwich Original Charity Christmas Card shop prepares for its 58th year, it continues to serve as a beacon of giving and community spirit. With 28 charities participating this year, the shop provides an essential platform for these organizations to sell their cards and raise much-needed funds. With the continued support of volunteers and the community, the shop is poised to have another successful year in raising money for charity.
