Former lawyer is new Norwich bishop’s chaplain

The Revd James Stewart has been appointed as Chaplain to the Bishop of Norwich and Diocesan Coordinator for Social and Community Concerns. He will be licensed at Norwich Cathedral on Wednesday October 8, at 5.30pm.

James has been the Assistant Curate in the Great Yarmouth Team Ministry following his ordination in 2011.  Prior to his ordination training he was a solicitor, practising in family law in King’s Lynn.  He was educated at Norwich School and Selwyn College, Cambridge

James will also have responsibility for the organisation of the Social and Community Concerns Forum as well as the Criminal Justice Forum in the Diocese, both ecumenically based.

His experience in the law as well as his ministry in Great Yarmouth, where he helped to establish a thriving community café, make him particularly suited to this role.

The Bishop of Norwich, The Rt Revd Graham James, said: “I am delighted that James is coming to work at Bishop’s House as my Chaplain and combining this with the role of Social and Community Concerns Coordinator.

“James already knows the Diocese well and has been appreciated for his fine ministry in Great Yarmouth.  He will have much to give in his new ministry.”
