Two King’s Lynn restaurants, both included in the 2018 Michelin Guide, have announced that they are supporting the Foodbank’s Big Supper Week fundraiser from November 20-26 by holding special culinary events.
Two top-rated King’s Lynn restaurants, Market Bistro and The Bank House Hotel, have confirmed that they are participating in the upcoming Big Supper Week organised by King’s Lynn Foodbank in response to growing demand for the service.
On the evening of Tuesday, November 21 Market Bistro will be creating a special four-course tasting menu in aid of King’s Lynn Foodbank using thrifty, home-grown and foraged ingredients.
And on Sunday, November 26 from 8am to 1pm, The Bank House Hotel is holding a fundraising brunch, with Cooke’s Butchers of Wisbech and Barsby’s Fresh Produce sponsoring the event.
A further local restaurant is also making plans to be part of the week, with details to follow.
Andy King, Foodbank trustee explains the need for the fundraising week: “We’re expecting to feed over 4,000 people this year- 20% up from 2016.
“We’re running on roughly the same budget and structure that we were three years ago, but we’re feeding more and more people. We want to go beyond providing emergency help for those in crisis: to educate, to support and to advocate for them.
“We’re so grateful for the support of Market Bistro, The Bank House and the community as a whole. I’m personally really excited about the week.”
Individuals are also taking part in the Big Supper Week by hosting their own events; inviting friends over, cooking for them and taking a donation towards the Foodbank in return.
“We’ve got people running fancy dinner parties, people cooking batches of jacket potatoes and chilli; it doesn’t really matter what people cook as long as they have fun and raise money,” Andy added. “We’d love more individuals and businesses to get involved.”
