Volunteers sleep out for King’s Lynn Night Shelter

Volunteers of King’s Lynn Winter Night Shelter are inviting people to join them as they sleep out in St John’s Church on Friday, November 24 in a challenge to fundraise for their new project which will provide rough sleepers in the West Norfolk town with a safe place to get a bed and a hot meal.

On Friday, November 24 volunteers of King’s Lynn Winter Night Shelter will be participating in the Advent Sleepout Challenge.

Volunteers will gather and sleep in St John’s Church from 8pm to 8am to raise money for King’s Lynn Winter Night Shelter, a pioneering project to provide rough sleepers with a safe place to go on Friday and Saturday nights from December until March.

Andrew Frere-Smith, who is organising the Advent Sleepout Challenge in King’s Lynn said: “We want as many people as possible to register and join us or to take part by being a sponsor.”

The King’s Lynn Winter Night Shelter will provide rough sleepers with a bed, meals and the chance to relax. The night shelter is the initiative of King’s Lynn Churches Together who are seeking to respond to a steep rise in the number of homeless people in the town over recent years. It will be based at the Purfleet Trust in St Ann’s Fort.

The Advent Sleepout Challenge is part of a national sponsored event facilitated by the Church Urban Fund to help marginalised people in England transform their lives and communities.  People all over England will be giving up a night of comfort to sleep out with their friends, families, church, and community groups.
