Cromer church’s summer family outreach launch

Cromer BeachFest returns next week with activities for families with children every Wednesday morning throughout the school holidays. Tony Rothe reports.

Although the BeachFest team runs activities throughout the year, their main event is the summer outreach, when there are family events in the town on five consecutive Wednesdays.

Jackie Austin from the team explains, “BeachFest is a missional event aiming to share the love of Jesus with those who come, so all our events are Bible based and have a range of fun art and craft activities and sporting challenges centred around our themes. We always have a whole group time when we come together for songs and Bible teaching. Each event is informal so people can stay for as long or short a time as they so wish, but families are invited to bring a picnic to enjoy together after the event.”

BeachFest is now in its second year. The outreach event is aimed at families with children up to the age of 11 with an event during each school half term, and five flagship BeachFest events in the school summer holidays.  They aim to keep in touch with families throughout the year and for families to keep in touch with each other in the school holidays. They attract families from Cromer and the surrounding villages as well as holidaymakers.

This year’s events all run from 10.30am to 12.30pm:

July 27 :              Family Fun Morning in Cromer churchyard

August 3:             Fun and Games in North Lodge Park

August 10:           Sand Sculpture Competition on East Beach, Cromer

August 17:           Carnival Celebration in Cromer Churchyard

August 24:           Family Fun Morning in Cromer Churchyard

The BeachFest team is drawn mainly from Cromer Parish Church but there are people on team from other local churches too. The team is always happy to recruit new members, so do get in touch with Jackie Austin via the Cromer church office on 01263 512000 for more information.
