Yarmouth churches’ blue plaques for Covid help

Churches in the Great Yarmouth area who provided food and support for the needy during the pandemic have been recognised with Blue Plaques.

Churches which provided foodbanks included Martham Churches, The Well at Gorleston Baptist Church, St Mary Magdalene Church, the Salvation Army, and the Pathway Cafe and Resource Centre, and Belton Church Pantry, all pictured above.

Kingsgate Community Church, who provided thousands of hot meals during the lockdowns, also received a plaque, and another one will be presented this summer to the Living Room, who provided food and support for the homeless.

Anna Heydon, Development Worker with Imagine Norfolk Together, said “During the difficult times of lockdown and restrictions during the pandemic, the Borough’s foodbanks were needed more than ever and they rose to the challenge. Their tireless work and selflessness has been recognised and commended through blue plaques which were commissioned by Lady Dannatt, the Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk”

This is based on an article in the Imagine Norfolk Together newsletter, and also on Network Yarmouth.
