Dereham Christian bookshop has moved
The Christian Bookshop Ministry, Green Pastures, has moved to new premises in Dereham – but only a few hundred yards away from its original location.
Partnering with Dereham Baptist Church and its Community outreach charity, Love Dereham, the Bookshop has moved to its new premises at 20 Norwich Street, Dereham NR19 1BX.
Green Pastures is occupying the Norwich Street retail area which used to be Adcocks (formerly Bennetts) electrical store; the shop can also be accessed by a passageway from the car park to the rear of the Iceland store.
The rear of the shop gives open access to a further area which will be used for community-based activities during shop opening hours – including the new base for the Community Fridge. This comfortably furnished room will be partitioned off when the shop is shut to provide a separate meeting place for a range of activities.
Across the passageway behind the shop, the Partnership has leased two other rooms. A first floor office area will be used for administration by Love Dereham (and later by Christians Against Poverty). Lastly, on the ground floor, there is a small unit which will be used as a quiet space by DBC and on certain days by 4Cs Counselling Service (currently based in the church premises).
Chairman of Trustees, Lance Birks, said: “Green Pastures is looking forward to having a slightly larger shop space to display Bibles, Christian books and resource materials, gifts, cards etc, and we are also excited about a growing number of opportunities to take tailored bookstalls to churches, Christian groups and events in Norfolk and Suffolk. As well as being an authorised stockist of the best-selling family of NIV Bibles, Green Pastures is now able to supply a wider range of books to customers’ homes through Bertram Books of Norwich’s Send my Book scheme.”
