Hindringham Church to host concert pre-premiere
There will be a pre-premiere of a classical concert in Hindringham Church next month prior to the official world premiere in Ely Cathedral a few days later.
North Sea Voices and Orchestra, directed by Dr Susannah Self, pictured above, will present Dr Self’s Sea Requiem and the Faure Requiem in St Martin’s Church in Hindringham on Sunday 26 March at 6.00pm.
North Sea Voices and Orchestra is a professional ensemble based in coastal North Norfolk. They have performed Susannah’s operas in Vienna, Cambridge and Birmingham. Recently they gave a series of concerts in Norfolk churches including the iconic Binham Priory.
Alongside Fauré’s beautiful Requiem, this Passiontide concert features the world première of Dr Self’s highly tuneful and harmonically rich Sea Requiem which, in addition to the traditional Latin texts, includes settings of poems about the sea by Keats, Dickinson and Whitman.
Entry to the pre-première in Hindringham will be free but there will be a retiring collection for the church tower.
The première itself will be in The Lady Chapel in Ely Cathedral on Saturday 1 April at 7.30pm. Again, entry will be free, but there will be a retiring collection for RNLI lifeboat at Wells, Norfolk. Please book your tickets here.
