Signs of new beginnings at two Norwich churches
There are signs of new beginnings at St Edmund’s and St Helen’s churches in Costessey, near Norwich, following the licensing of a new priest and a church graft of 30 people.
Last September Rev James Pinto was licenced as Priest in charge to St Edmund’s and St Helen’s churches in Costessey. James was formerly curate at Holy Trinity Norwich and came with a ‘church graft’ of 30 people, mainly but not solely from Holy Trinity aged 1-87!
The first move was to restart groups for children at St Helen’s. This was followed by a new monthly church prayer meeting and growth of the existing Bible study groups. There are also now regular outreach courses.
Voluntary Church Administrator Hilary Jarrett said: “There is a growing programme of community events including an Easter Fun Day, Coronation lunch and a regular Parish Walk as well as a thriving Toddler group. In September St Helen’s will welcome a new Children’s & Youth Worker.
“The church’s mission is to be ‘a family on mission, delighting in God and with one another’. It has been a joy to see the ‘graft’ assimilated into the existing congregation and has been a great encouragement to all concerned.”
