Lisa Piccirillo recently released her debut album “Radiate” after going through a musical journey that started with writing songs during the pandemic. The album, consisting of 10 songs, was released on streaming services with a release party planned at Briggs Opera House to showcase the record. Piccirillo hopes that those attending the event will experience a sense of release and connect with the music on a deeper level during the listening session.
“Radiate” represents a shift in Piccirillo’s musical style, moving towards alt-rock inspired by ’90s artists like Alanis Morissette and Sarah McLachlan. The album is a departure from her previous Americana music and cover band experiences, showcasing a more polished and dynamic sound. Most of the album was recorded in Piccirillo’s home studio, with the string quartet portion recorded at Lane Gibson Recording and Mastering. Mixing of the album was done by Michael Barbiero, a renowned producer who came out of retirement to work on “Radiate.”
The album release event on Saturday aims to create a unique listening experience for attendees, focusing on the music rather than visual distractions. Piccirillo believes in the magic of community listening and hopes that people will connect with the vulnerability and emotions expressed in her songs. The event will feature a vintage fashion pop-up, wellness practitioners, and a live performance by Piccirillo and other musicians involved in the album. Tickets are available for purchase in advance or at the door.
While physical copies of the album are not currently available, Piccirillo plans to release it on vinyl in the future. She acknowledges the changing landscape of music consumption but still values the experience of sitting down with a physical album and reading the lyrics. As she continues on her musical journey, Piccirillo remains dedicated to creating meaningful and authentic music that resonates with listeners and shares a part of her own story with them.
