Tiny English airport gets new flights to Spanish holiday destination with highs of 20C in November

Ryanair is set to launch more flights from Norwich to Alicante, marking its first-ever winter schedule from the Norwich Airport. The budget carrier had started operating from Norwich Airport in April and due to the success of the summer service between Norwich Airport and Alicante, they have decided to extend the route into the winter season. The twice-weekly service will operate every Monday and Saturday, providing customers in the Norfolk region with more options for winter sun breaks at Europe’s lowest fares. Return fares start at £49.98 in November, with temperatures in Alicante reaching as high as 20C. Ryanair’s Head of Comms, Jade Kirwan, expressed excitement about the expansion of routes and the support it brings to regional development through connectivity, tourism, and job creation.

Norwich Airport’s Managing Director, Richard Pace, expressed optimism about the future of the airport, citing strong performance and high customer support. He mentioned plans for potentially adding two or three more routes in time for summer 2025, based on the success of the current flights. Norwich Airport has seen significant success this year, with the city named as one of Time Out’s top places to visit in 2024, highlighting attractions like the Boards National Park and Norwich Castle. Ryanair is also launching new routes from other small regional airports across the UK, including London Stansted Airport, with destinations such as Dubrovnik, Linz, Reggio, and Sarajevo, providing Brit holidaymakers with more winter travel options.

Ryanair passengers flying with the budget carrier should be aware of certain guidelines and charges. All passengers can bring a small personal bag on board, but it must fit under the seat in front of them and be within specific dimensions. Over-sized cabin bags will be refused at the boarding gate and put in the hold for a fee, and passengers may face charges for check-in at the airport or reissue fees for lost cards. Additionally, passengers can book seats in the front rows for early deplaning, and extra legroom seats are available in specific rows. Furthermore, new routes continue to be added by Ryanair, including Newcastle to Marrakech and a Manchester Airport to Porto route by Jet2.
