Mid-Norfolk Christian centre may have to close
Letton Hall, a Christian residential centre near Shipdham, is facing financial difficulties and is in danger of closure. The 18th century building, run by the Letton Hall Trust, has been providing residential facilities to guests and groups for over 35 years. However, the Covid-19 pandemic forced the centre to shut for eighteen months, resulting in no income and depleting their reserves due to ongoing maintenance costs. The Trust is now in a precarious financial position, with increased running costs and a need for immediate funding to meet operational costs and legal responsibilities.
Despite receiving some limited donations for emergency repairs and seeking grants from government and private grant-givers, the Trust still requires significant financial assistance to survive. They are at risk of having to sell the hall if they cannot raise at least £30,000 in the next two months. The Trust is exploring alternative sources of income to support its charitable objectives of advancing the Christian faith for public benefit, but without immediate financial assistance, they may be forced to cease operations by the end of the summer.
Letton Hall, a Grade II* listed Georgian building and former home of the Gurdon family, now accommodates 130 beds for residential and school groups. Donations can be made through the Just Giving page, directly to the Letton Hall office, or the Letton Hall website. The Trust is urging for support from the community to help them continue providing facilities in line with their charitable mission. They emphasize the importance of donations and prayers to ensure the survival of Letton Hall and its ongoing work in the local community.
The Letton Hall Trust recognizes the challenges they are facing and are grateful for any size of donation to support their work. With potential closure looming, they are reaching out to the public for help and assistance in order to keep the centre operational. By raising awareness of their financial struggles and the imminent threat of closure, they hope to rally support and secure the funding needed to sustain Letton Hall and continue serving their guests and groups for years to come.
