Final colourful quilt exhibition in Norfolk church
The Quilts 4 Care Leavers project, in collaboration with the Friends of St Andrew’s Church in Little Massingham, is set to conclude with a final exhibition this weekend. The exhibition will take place on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July at the church, where over sixty completed patchwork quilts, known as “hugs,” will be on display. These quilts were made across the UK and will be given to young people leaving the care system in Norfolk through the Norfolk County Council. The project has not only raised money for the church’s roof but has also allowed the young people at the center of the project to select a quilt of their choice.
Rosmary, a member of the project, expressed excitement about the upcoming exhibition, mentioning the success of previous showcases of quilt tops and the “Church Hug” event in May. During the event, participants encircled the church with people holding patchwork quilt tops, which were then distributed to members of Quilts 4 Care Leavers to finish into quilt hugs. The completed quilts will now be showcased before being handed over to the young people in the Norfolk Care System. The exhibition is free for attendees, but donations towards the restoration of the church roof are welcome.
