Norfolk village to open gardens for church funds
In mid-June, the village of Wreningham will be hosting its first Open Gardens event in over 20 years, with a charity colour run at the village school kicking off the fun-filled community weekend. The event will feature a variety of gardens, ranging from small cottage plots to larger landscaped gardens and woodlands, open to visitors on June 16, Fathers’ Day. Funds raised from the event will go towards the historic All Saints Church in the South Norfolk village. Organisers are excited to showcase a diverse range of gardens, from new ones still in development to mature gardens, offering inspiration to visitors and a chance to enjoy the beauty of early summer flowers. The event, organised by volunteers, aims to bring the community together in a celebration of the summer season.
In addition to the Open Gardens, a range of activities are planned for visitors, including games like welly throwing, bug hunting, and giant Jenga for children and their fathers. Other attractions will include a gnome hunt, art displays and sales from talented local artists, and a plant sale at the church. Tea and cakes at the church, a South African barbecue in one garden, and light lunches, cakes, and a bar at the village hall will also be available for those looking to grab a bite to eat. Entry to the event is £5 per person, with accompanied under 12s admitted free of charge. Cash is the only accepted form of payment. The community weekend will kick off with a fete and colour run hosted by the Friends of Wreningham School on June 15 on the village playing field.
