Norwich shop Coccolino aims to add Timberhill soft play area

Coccolino, a children’s clothing shop located in Timberhill, has announced an upcoming sale in early December. The sale will offer discounts on a wide range of products in order to fund a store refurbishment that will include the installation of a soft play area. This move is in response to the recent closure of Flicka’s Dove Street store, which signifies a decline in independent kids’ fashion outlets in the city.

Owner Dorothy Thompson, 64, expressed concern about the impact of businesses moving solely online, as it may result in customers missing out on the personalized support and experience of shopping in a physical store. Thompson emphasized the importance of face-to-face interactions with customers and the role that in-store purchases play in the success of Coccolino. The store’s best-selling items include fruity knitted hats and reversible jackets, with a focus on stock from British brands such as Little Shrimp and Kite.

Coccolino has been in operation for 25 years, relocating to its current location in Timberhill from the Norwich Lanes 12 years ago. The store aims to maintain its presence as one of the few remaining independent children’s fashion outlets in the city and continues to prioritize in-store purchases to provide customers with a personalized shopping experience. The upcoming sale will not only offer discounts on products but also contribute to the funding of necessary store enhancements, indicating the shop’s commitment to its physical presence and the overall customer experience.
