Visit Sloley Methodists’ summer festival

The Summer Festival returns to Sloley Methodist Church this August Bank Holiday, and all are welcome to come along and join the fun.

The festival will start on Saturday 26 August with a hog roast at 5.30pm followed by the Summer Concert from 6.30pm. The Festival Service is at 2.30pm on Sunday 27 August, with worship singing from 2.15pm.

The music for both these events will be provided by the Worship Group and friends from Third Avenue Church & Community in Kent. Mark, the worship leader at Third, grew up in Norfolk, with Sloley his home chapel, before moving to first London then Gillingham in Kent over 30 years ago. Since 2013 he has brought the Third Avenue Worship Group to Sloley each year, staging a concert on the Saturday evening, and leading worship on the Sunday afternoon.

Mark Frost, one of the organisers, said “The concert is a lazy summer’s evening of live music and entertainment – from easy listening to musicals, from folk to a touch of classical and even the odd novelty song! Ultimately it’s about having a time of fun and laughter. With a wide age span within the group, there’s always something for everyone and all are most welcome.”

The Summer Fayre follows on Bank Holiday Monday, 28 August, from 10am to 2pm. There will be various stalls, cakes, refreshments and light lunches.
