Christian charity mapping Yarmouth warm hubs

The charity Imagine Norfolk Together is taking action to help those struggling to stay warm during the colder months by creating a map of warm spaces across the Great Yarmouth Borough. With energy costs remaining high and many people finding it difficult to pay their bills, churches and organizations are opening their doors to provide a warm space and a welcoming environment for those in need. The map will show where people can go throughout the week to find a warm space, receive a warm welcome, and a warm drink for free. Development Worker Anna Heydon is encouraging churches and groups to inform her of any sessions where they open their buildings as warm places for people to come, so they can be added to the list. The charity has previously produced maps of church-backed foodbanks in the borough, as well as a list of free meals provided by churches in the area.

Imagine Norfolk Together, originally established in 2016 by the Church Urban Fund and Diocese of Norwich, continues to work ecumenically in Great Yarmouth and King’s Lynn to support the work of churches in the community. The charity’s efforts to create a warm spaces map reflects the willingness of local churches to step forward and offer support to their community in the face of the ongoing struggle to keep warm. The map is available for viewing on the Imagine Norfolk Together website, and churches, groups, or organizations interested in being included on the map can contact Anna Heydon via email. The charity’s commitment to supporting those in need and collaborating with local churches demonstrates a dedication to serving the community and ensuring no one is left out in the cold during the winter months.
