Chantry Place supporting Alive UK’s 2023 Christmas appeal

Norwich shopping centre Chantry Place is once again teaming up with the local charity Alive UK for a Christmas gifts and treats appeal for children and their caregivers. The appeal, which is also being supported by the Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News, aims to provide emergency support for people in crisis. Last year, the appeal helped over 700 local children receive a present who would not have received one otherwise. The goal is to support hundreds of families again this year with the help of donations from the community.

People can donate unwrapped gifts, toys, or chocolate treats at a collection point in Chantry Place until Sunday, December 17. Jo Thorne, chair of trustees, and pastor of Alive Church, emphasized that donations can make a huge difference in providing families with a magical Christmas. Alive UK, which has around 50 volunteers and is supported by Alive Church, is also looking for donations of wrapping paper and sticky tape. All donations of new gifts are welcome for all ages, including babies, children, teenagers, and those who care for them.

Jo Bates, operations manager at Chantry Place, highlighted the positive impact of last year’s appeal on struggling families and expressed the desire to spread joy and put smiles on the faces of families again this year. The donated gifts are delivered by Alive volunteers to the caregivers of the children, allowing them to enjoy wrapping the gifts themselves and give them to their children. The appeal aims to bring happiness and Christmas cheer to families in crisis and depend on the support and generosity of the local community for its success. Through the partnership with Alive UK and the local newspapers, Chantry Place is looking forward to making a positive difference in the lives of families in need during the holiday season.
